The buzz is all about niche job boards. The mega job hosting sites have plenty to offer on a grand scale, but niche makes it more personal. The question is, which industries are growing; which have a stronger potential niche market than the others?

The best approach is to go straight to the source, and that’s the U.S. Department of Labor. The statistics they gather are unbiased, and based on reported data throughout the country. 

If you’re thinking about creating a niche job board or expanding on the industries that you already service, think about some of these, which are projected to grow faster than any others from now until 2022.

Healthcare is a leader, but expect some competition.

Healthcare is One of the Fastest Growing Industries

Healthcare nice job boards aren’t anything new, but the demand continues to bloom. According to the Department of Labor, health care jobs are among the fastest growing in the country. In fact, 4 jobs with the fastest overall growth are in some area of health care or another.

Personal care aids rank at the top, in fact 1st among all jobs in any field, with a projected 580,800 new jobs appearing between 2012 and 2022. The Department of Labor uses the 2012 – 2022 range for all job growth estimates. Registered nurses come in 2nd, with 526,800. 

Home health aides are 3rd in health care, and 4th overall, with 424,200 new jobs. Rounding out the top 4 are nursing assistants, with 312,200 new jobs. This specialty ranks 6th in growth among all fields.

Retail Sales Ranks Near the Top

Retail sales continues to expand. It ranks 3rd in all occupations, only coming in under health care as the fastest growing. An estimated 434,700 new retail jobs are projected to appear in the retail market by 2022, which makes this a ripe industry for niche job boards. 

Secretarial and Administrative Assistance

Secretarial and administrative assisting jobs might be a surprising area of growth. But this field ranks 7th overall. The Department of Labor projects that 307,800 new positions will be created before 2022. 

Construction and Labor Might be a Surprising Leader

Construction and labor occupations are one of the most common found in standard newspaper classifieds and swimming around in the job board giants. But this is a group that offers a wealth of niche job board opportunity. Job growth in this industry is projected at 259,800. 

Niche job boards do something the behemoths in the industry can’t. They offer focus and more personalized attention. And they also give employers and job seekers a place where everything revolves around them. 

From relevant, targeted ads to valuable content, niche caters to one industry, and does it well. Or at least the potential is there. It can become a vibrant social community for industry leaders to engage, and a go-to source for news.

The scope of your niche job board is really only limited by how much you want to put into it. And the more you offer, the more value advertisers, employers and job candidates will find there.

  1. With the introduction of the internet, small businesses are having to put effective marketing strategies in place to help them compete with large corporations on a global scale. Up until a few years ago, companies were all on an even playing field, marketing to local customers in their area. With the internet, it has opened up the trading platform with companies now competing globally and rather than competing against a handful of companies, they are now one of thousands all trying to get their customer’s attention.
